The city of Cannes will grants the right, in 1919, to install the Museum of la Castre in the heart of the medieval castle of the Lérins’ monks, currently classified as a Historic monument. At the entrance to the Museum, you can stroll in the Mediterranean garden which offers an unobstructed view of the Cannes beaches. During your visit, you can climb the 109 markets of the tower, I situated at the center of the inner courtyard of the Castle. Once on top, enjoy a stunning 360 ° view of the town as well as the Cannes coastline.

A taste of the trip and Orientalism

The permanent collections found in the Museum have been bequeathed by the baron Lycklama in the late 19th century. The baron had a taste for Mediterranean antiquities, ethnography and the musical instruments of the world. Four showrooms display those permanent collections in four distinct themes: ethnographic travel, travel history, scenic trip and Romanesque chapel - musical instruments.
