In South Corsica, the forest of Bavella is part of the most beautiful natural sites of the island of beauty, it is one of the sights not to be missed during your holiday in Solenzara . To reach the forest of Bavella from the station resort of Solenzara, located on the coast, you'll have about twenty eight kilometres to go following the mountain road which starts in the West. You can also reach the forest from the village of Zonza, twelve kilometers through the mountains.



You can enjoy a fantastic hiking, with adapted equipment, including market and water shoes, and a trail suitable for your level, in this magnificent site which is part of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica.


Sites seeing in the forest of Bavella


The forest of Bavella stretches between 500 and 1300 metres above sea level, it is planted with maritime pines, Cedars but also FIR and chestnut trees to make it more resistant to the forest fire. The relief of the forest offers rugged landscapes, by following the hiking trails you can admire red granite needles, one of the features of the site.



Continuing your walk, you can enjoy beautiful views and perhaps even observe bighorn sheep. Activities can also be arranged from the col de Bavella, such as climbing and canyoning, thanks to the natural water basins and waterfalls that have dug the site.



Overlooking the forest, the famous Aiguilles de Bavella stand above the verdant landscape and offers hikers stunning views. From the pine forest, you can reach walking trails and discover the unusual natural site of the 'bomb hole', and you will be able to climb the famous col de Bavella.



Busy summer, the forest of Bavella welcomes also each August 8 the pilgrims who come to pray to our Lady of snow, the procession ends with the passage of the col de Bavella, where stands the statue of the Virgin. The pilgrimage is traditionally followed by a picnic in the forest.
