How about re-experiencing a day in the traditional Alsace countryside?

The museum of Alsace is considered as one of the most important in France. More than 70 countryside houses (maisons campagnardes d’alsace) were dismantled only to be reconstructed at Ungersheim, together with its folkloric history of over fife centuries!

A day at Ungersheim

Equipped with a needed map, you are ready to explore the daily life of the village. Blacksmiths, potters, craftsmen and wheelwrights open their workshop for the visitor to experience their work and working environment. You can also get a fishing trip with the villages’ expert fisherman during which he will teach you his secrets. You will also be introduced to the old recipes by the cook, in an old school manner, with the same iron discipline as was the case in the early 20th century. And of course, who says traditional village, says traditional crops and livestock: small and large will be delighted to assist in the work of the fields and milking cows...

Long lost knowledge shared

In addition to this, occasional entertainments are held throughout the year. The two last Saturdays of the month, for example, hosts professional and artisans, who together share their knowledge and secrets with the visitor. Solving the mysteries of electricity, recognizing fossils or insects, finding oil in Alsace and dreaming in front of an Egyptian sarcophagus, is design to lure children’s into a fun and easy way of boosting their will to learn.

Finally, enjoy the summer with the discovery trench where outdoor games and surprises awaits you, or allow children to try life in the country for a week, the holiday centre, where they will live to the rhythm of the villagers and will each day learning fun in new workshops.
